We are beyond excited to announce this year’s recipient of the $1,000 Otter Street – Brandan Kalmerton Memorial Scholarship: Aiden Gehrke! Each year OSFC in conjunction with the BAK Memorial Fund selects one individual who both plans to study Natural Resources at UW-Stevens Point but also possesses the traits and values that Brandan did. Aiden is an exemplary recipient of this year’s award.

A little bit about Aiden…

  • Has been involved with many national and international mission trips to help those in need.
  • Has been an active member of Scouts since 4th grade – recently achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. This has helped him grow in the area of leadership, dedication, initiative and responsibility.
  • Is an avid outdoors-man and is someone who thoroughly enjoys and appreciates nature and conservation.
  • Plans to study Wildlife Ecology and Management at UW-Stevens Point with the aspiration of becoming a Wildlife Biologist.
  • Is the Salutatorian of his 2019 graduating class at Valley Christian High School.

As you can see, Aiden is a deserving, yet gracious award winner and we’re very excited to see all of the positive things he will do! He was awarded the $1,000 scholarship in front of a crowd at the Kid’s Fisheree on Saturday, August 10th. There to meet and award Aiden his scholarship was  Brandan’s sister, Alana Backman, who had her super cute son Jackson there to share in the fun! We miss Brandan terribly, but we’re so happy that his honor can continue to live on.

Congrats Aiden – best of luck as you start school!
